I am running BE 9.1 in one of our European offices. The last 3 days, I have been getting a lot of media mount failed error. I follow what Veritas is suggesting to disable and delete the device, stop/restart the services. Still I am getting the same problem for the last 3 days. HELP!!!!!

What's the whole error? What is the job history showing?

There's lots of possibilities. Some are:

1. media is full
2. drive is bad
3. media is bad (how old are the tapes)
4. media can't be overwritten

1. the tape could not be full. Sometimes the backup will stop with only about 500megs of data backed up.
2. bad drive..this is what I am thinking
3. the server and tape drive is only about 6 months old. the tapes also are about 6 months old.
4. the media can be overwritten as the job starts and runs for a short time.

1. that doesn't mean the tape can't be full
4. how do you know it is being OVERWRITTEN?

Your jobs could be appending to the tape. If so, there could be only a little bit of space left on the tape and now it needs a new tape.

Did you check the job history????? That will show more details of what is happening.

1. I have an erase job that automatically runs an hour before the backup job starts
2. I was the one who setup this job for our London office. I also have verified it just a minute ago that the job is set to overwrite and not append.

Okay, I'm stuck on this one. But have you checked the Job History for one of the jobs? Have you checked the Windows Event Viewer Logs on the server?
