Example: A customer has 2 companies supplying lines.
- AT&T
- C&W
The customer would like calls to go out on the C&W lines First. If these lines are busy then the calls will overflow to the AT&T lines and give the user a warning when they access these lines.

How is this Achieved
- Put the lines for C&W in line pool B
- Put the lines for AT&T in line pool A
- Remove the line pool codes for A and B. and exchange line code e.g Normally 9
- Set up route 001 to use Pool A ,dial out No Number (eg expensive route)
- Set up route 002 to use Pool B, dial out No Number (eg cheap route)
- Add A Designation Code .eg 9 This is normally 9.
- Absorb all digits
- Use route 002, (cheap route) press next,
- This is were you now enter the second route , we will use Night, Default None
- Press change, enter route 001 (this is the overflow route)
- Press Next, set overflow to Y.
- Set routing service Night to Manual. This will allow the service to be switched on.
What happens Now.

- Service modes will now be on.
When the user dials 9 for an outside line, they will be routed to route 002(cheap route). If the lines within Pool B are busy then they will overflow into pool A.
When this happens a warning tone will be heard and Expensive Route will be displayed on the users Telephone Display Screen.
