Hi all,

I have a 450-24T switch that I don't have the password to, and I am attempting to use the "join the switch to a stack" method for password removal. I have a switch with a known password, two cascade module, a cascade cable, and a return cable. How do I create a stack? I have the Java Device Manager, but this does not seem to have the ability to create stacks.

Thanks for your help,

Robert

No need to "create" a stack. The switches will figure it out when you boot after you have connected them. Several item to note.

The switches should be on the same version of code, at the very least they must be on the same version of stack code, both either v1 or v2. You can see this on the boot screen with a console connection.

There is a base switch on the stack module. The switch with the known password set with the base switch on, the other off.

Once booted, you should not need a password, unless the switch was in a stack before and someone set the password.

Just select reset to default from the main menu on the console, and you will have two switches with default configs.
I've not done this with Device Manager, only console.
