I think there is a lot of trouble about differences between MX-One Telephony-Server and MX-One Telephony-Switch and how it works. So here my questions, and this are only technical questions, no questions about Ericssons Releaseplan

1. How is the MG-Classic connected to the Telephony-Server? With IP-Connection via IPLU?

2. MG-Classic has a devided Backplane to insert new and old boards - I think for extension-Board like ELU28. But can I also insert LPU5, LSU, DSU and NIU to establish a standalone 1LIM-System with BC12?

3. In MG-Classic I find the IPLU for IP-Extensions or IP-Trunks. Does this card has more functions?

4. The IPLU tells me, that a MG-Classic can act without Telephony-Server. But it would make no sense, to develop a Card for IP-Extensions, if the Telephony-Server has all the IP-Functions already integrated?

5. MG-Classic is 19"-enabled. If I install it in a 19"-Server-Rack, where to get the power? Is there also a 19"-enabled Rectifier? Or is it integrated?

5. If I have BC13, can I change from Stackable-Magazins to MG-Classic?

6. If I want to have Telephony-Server but I do not need IP-Extensions; Do I need a Media-Gateway? MG-Classic should be enough?!

7. If I buy only Telephony-Server, but without Media-Gateway or MG-Classic; Can i connect IP-Phones to make atleast internal calls?

7. If I have S0-Trunks, I need a MG-Classic, because the normal MG does not support S0.

The naming for each system is changing everyday, even with in Ericsson as the new system is being developed the naming and capabilities are changing every day.

The MX-One is divided into three separate systems:
MX-One Telephony Switch (it’s an MD which is going to be IP based instead of TDMA).
MX-One Telephony Server ( is a system made of 2 HP servers, and a Media Gateway)
MX-One Classis or sometimes called MX-One legacy LIM (very similar to the MD magazine, almost the same size as an MD magazine split into two parts magazine 0 to the right and magazine one to the left with the LSU in the middle, so its like am MD magazine but its two magazines actually, that because all of the board time slots are 32)

MX-One Telephony Switch: Don’t know much about.
MX-One Telephony server:
Its made of two HP switch and an Ericsson media gateway, One switch is going to be called the Telephony Server(TS) the other is the Communications Organizer(Com.Org.):
Telephony Server:
Is a normal HP server dual processor, although the Ericsson Telephony Server never uses processor number 2, but that’s the way it is, the operating system is Unix based, so basically the TS is a server running Unix with a Ericsson software simulating an MD LIM, so what is in that LIM? What is the capacity? How many boards are there? What kind of Boards?
U log in to the LIM through a PUTTY session, most of the MD commands are running on the system with modification to some of them so they are Unix based, through the TS you can only initiate IP extensions exactly the same way you initiate them in an MD, how many Boards do you have will depend on the license you got, Can I initiate an analogue extensions? Yes there are four and just four analogue extensions and those are on the MD gateway which is connected to the TS through a normal network cable, those four analogue extensions are meant to be for technical communications just in case the IP extensions don’t work, can I initiate digital extensions? NO. Can I initiate trunks? Yes, you have eight E1/T1 links on the media gate way the you can imitate as trunks, so you can link your system to the Public network through and ISDN connection, or even link your system to an MD.
So in the TS we can only initiate up to four analogue extension that are located at the Media gate way, and 8 E1/T1 extensions located at the media gate way too, and up to 500 IP extension for each TS.

The second server will be window 2003 based running DNA, Messaging, PAPC, PAWeb.

MX-One Classic:
Its ver similar to an MD magazine but its basically to magazines the LSU in the middle right next to the LSU there is a DSU on each side, instead of the LPU there is the ETS-E which is exactly, most of the old MD boars work fine with MX-One classic it will be mostly deployed with ELU33 and ELU 34, using an board which occupies less then 32 time slot is going to be a waste cause each board position in the MX-One classic occupies a full 32 time slots, so its basically and MD magazine? Will not so, the ETS-E is IP based which supports IPLU boards which are needed for IP calls.
The only calls that you can make to a TS are IP calls except the 4 analogue extensions which are mean to be for technical support and emergencies so we can for get about those, so when make a call from an IP extension in the MX classic to another IP extension in the MX classic we are using 2 RTP resources on the IPLU board ( which supports 16 RTP resources). A call from an ATS or a DTS in the MX classic to an IP extension in the same MX classic will only take away one RTP resource.
A call from an IP extension on the a MX-One telephony server to another IP extension on the same MX-One telephony server will take one RTP resource from the server processor, an IP extension one the MX-One telephony server when call in IP extension on the MX-One classic will take one RTP resource from the TS processor and one RTP resource from the IPLU, what if there isn’t an IPLU board on the MX classic? That means there are no IP extensions, o.k. how can an IP extension on the MX TS call and analogue or digital extension on the MX classic through a media gate way, the call goes to the media gate way. What if there isn’t a media gate way? So no media gate way and no IPLU…….that mean calls between IP extension and DTS+ATS can not be established.
