Hi Everyone!!

I'm looking to order 5 analog co trunks, hunting, with DID's 'riding' them. I want to be able to use them for inbound and outbound calling. And if possible call ID...

So placed an order and they wanted to know if I wanted wink start, ground start or loop start....

I picked wink start...is that wrong? Should I change it? what is wink start?

Thanks!!!!

analog loop start are not very good and do not provide answer supervision or disconnect supervision.

ground start co trunks provide both.

wink start are used for DID trunks on DID packs or tie line types on DS1 circuits. Provider siezes trunk, switch provides wind, provider sends digits, switch completes the call.

There is no callerID with any of the above circuits incoming or outgoing without special hardware, and paying the provider for these services.

"isdn" on DS1 with NI2 protocol can be used for many trunk types and can be used with caller ID and names being passed incoming and outgoing if your provider allows that.

Thanks!!!!!

I am connecting to a MM711 CP. So it sounds like I probably should have ordered ground start lines and paid the provider for caller ID?

sounds like the best bet would have been ISDN...but I dont know if MM711 would support it. There are only 3 people at this site so I didnt want to order a circuit that had a lot of capacity...

Does it wound like I goofed?

mm710B is for DS1
isdn is minimum of 23 trunks and very expensive.
This would really be overkill for 3 users.

You probably need a several ground-start c.o. trunks with callerID. Not sure you need DID for 3 people either.

loop-start will work fine for 3 people that do not do a lot of conference or trunk to trunk transfers.

Thanks!!! The DID aren't really needed now but the office might be expanding so I threw it in...

I'll change the order to ground-start. I thought I goofed :)

The Carrier is telling me that they cant do caller ID on trunks, but I dont want to order PRI either... so I might not be able to give them the call id. I'm surprised by that, but if that's how it is I suppose theres nothing I can do about it.

Thanksagain!!

We have two analog trunks at our remote locations. The DID trunk is "wink-start" and the CO Trunk is "loop start".

Which carrier are you ordering these circuits through?

AvayaTier3,

I have a system in Shanghai that is experiencing a strange issue on their lines. It takes 3 rings before the system sees the call and passes it to a station. My trunks are loop-start as well... They also are not passing caller-ID, but a standard home phone receives the caller-ID wihtout issue... Is it possible that SST will need to convert this site to ground-start?
