Hi

We have a main office and branch that is connected by a VPN (Cisco firewall). Both sites used different DHCP ranges (with same subnet)and both sites have their domain controllers. Both offices are in the same Domain but have their own Active Directory OU's. Just a simply question really - is there a name for this setup and would this setup just be controlled by the VPN side of things or would there by any Active Directory configuration two alow oboth sites to co-exist.

I don't fully understand the question, but yes the two sites can "co-exist". Have you setup both of the subnet in AD Sites and Services?

monsterjta is right on. You need to make sure the various sites are configured in ADS&S. This goes a long way determining replication.

Thanks guys for these valuable posts! All seems setup here so just need to get my head around it all. There is a subnet for the main office but nothing on for the branch office (though the branch server is listed with NTDS settings under servers?
