I have no manual, and I moved a NEC (32 ports) Key Electra from one location to the other.

I only have one active CO line (more will be active tommorow) and I am having problems getting a dial tone.

I was told that CO lines or Station ports are interchangeable, and the last installer used ports 25-31 for CO lines (it worked fine).

Can someone provide another point of view--I tryed 3 different phones, I get the hum noise at the 66 block (current is present) but a completely dead phone--NO POWER what so ever.

Thanks

Well I dont know about ports 25-31 because CO ports start at 01, maybe vmail is using those ports.
First slot from the left is your CPU and then the next on maybe labeled on the KSU as AP and then the 3rd slot will be your first 8 pairs off the 66 block
On the 66 block every 8 pairs= a slot in the KSU.
If my first card is in the 3rd slot from the left labeled COI then the first 8 pairs on 66 are for your CO's etc etc.
The 3rd slot might be labeled as slot 1...memory on older KSU's eludes me.
You can change a station card for a CO card in the KSU but then there is a lot of re-programming to do and jumper changing.
If you have say 8 lines and you need to hit speaker 9 to get a line then it will grab line 8 which is dead and give you no dial tone. Try from reception set if the lines appear on it.

If you are using ETW phones they wire to pins 1 and 4 on an RJ-11 Jack.
