Hi,

One of my users has found that recently any attachment he views within the Lotus Notes (v5.0.8) email program gets registered in the Start, Documents list. So now that list only contains "ghost" references to files he only viewed within Notes, and not opened within Word, Excel etc.

I am still not familiar with how Windows 2000 Pro (SP3) adds a file to that Recent list..... Is it usually files that you open from My Computer? Or all files you viewed perhaps?

Can anyone recommend how I can change the "behaviour" so that only "real" files that he opened from My Computer appear in the list?

Any info very much appreciated,
Cheers,
Danny

I do not know of anyway to do what you are asking. When you open a file that is associated with an application (i.e. - by double clicking a word docuement rather than open word and then opening a document) a shortcut to the file is put in

&userprofile%\<profilename>\recent

I believe it stores the last 10, but you can count to make sure. If that was an attachment in notes, then what atuically happens is this. The notes application copies the file to a temporary location on the HD. The file is then opened like any other local file and therfor a shortcut is created in the recent folder (i.e. - documents on the Start Menu).
