I have two issues please, 1) How do I delete messenger from XP, and 2) How can I stop XP asking me each time I log on if I want to update XP, even if update is unchecked in the settings? Thanks, sorry if theese are a stupid or basic questions.

To delete Messenger:

Start/Run (the following should be on one line):
RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

If you are being prompted for updates, there must be some that were downloaded but not installed. Bring up the Windows Update box (open the tray notification icon). There is an option choice to not install the downloaded updates.
