Good day, first time post for me. I am new to programming IP Office and am working on pre-programming a Basic Edition auto attendant. I know that Essential Edition can do these things rather easily, but Basic is what I have here to try and make work.

Essentially I am trying to make it do the following:

Thank you for calling XYZ Company
For the Operator Press 1
For our hours of operation and address press 2
To reach us after hours press 3
For a Dial By Name Directory press 4

I have 1 set to go to the calling group of three telephones, so that is OK I believe. I need 2 to go to a script and I need 3 to forward to an outside line. I think that I could program the 2 to go to a phantom mailbox, but I am not sure how to turn off the ability to leave messages. I could also send it to another AA I suppose. For 3 I have it set to forward to a user on the system who will press a forward button on the telephone at the end of the day; so calls are routed to that extension which is then forwarded to the outside line.

Is this the best way to set this up? Thank you in advance for any help.

Thanks for the replies, I went ahead and did the programming with an AA instead of a phantom. I think it works better that way too.

Further, is there a way to program a voice mail collect button for a different extension on your phone in Basic? I know they can dial a code, but a button would be nice.

You can put a Voicemail Collect button on the phone, but I have never done it so I am not sure if it defaults to visual voice or calls voicemail. I would think it calls voicemail.

I tried that first, but when one does that in Basic the Voice Mail Collect option does not seem to allow/show any other options to choose a different mailbox. For example, when you put a user DSS button on a telephone it brings up a action data window asking what user and you choose from the drop down. When one chooses voice mail collect it does not bring up a window, implying that it is a voice mail collect for one's own voice mail box. Is there another way to program it, or perhaps I am misunderstanding the Voice Mail Collect button?

Thanks!

If you set the VM mode to intuity and then it allows you to do a **7 to re-login to different extensions. In Ip office mode dial 778 and it will ask for an extension and password.

Think twice, speak once~~!!~~

Intercom 777 calls voicemail and it assumes you want to log into the mailbox associated with the extension you are calling from

Intercom 778 will prompt you to enter the extension number of the mailbox you want to check.
