Can someone explain or point me to a website that describes basic call routing? What I need to know (or reinforce)is the path a call takes from a DID that starts with 630-236, how that call would go to a number in Chicago and also anywhere else outside of our LATA (which is 358).
One other question: can a call that is "local" -- as in, inside the same LATA, be routed to a different trunk so that it can be billed as long distance at a lower rate? I'm pretty convinced that it cannot, but a colleague of mine says if we route it out of a different trunk all calls 15 miles and over can be charged at the LD rate rather than the local 15-over mile toll.
