Hello everyone ..

I've got this problem with 1.44MB diskettes.

When i format a diskette in Windows XP the other computer with Windows'98 can't read it (Says it's not formatted).

When I format the same disk in Windows'98 the other computer with XP can't read it (Says it's not formatted).

The diskette is fine and the drives are NEW and completely CLEAN (used a cleanning head set).

I can't figure out what the heck is going on. Could anyone help me before i kill another diskette (I chewed the last one but it didn't taste good).

This is the classic symptom of drive interchang problems due to misalignment of the heads in one of the drives.
The problem will be to figure out which one is out of alignment so you can replace it.
I assume that both can read the diskettes that they have formatted.
Probably best to try one from each on a third machine. Odd one out is the bad one, except if they both work. Ed Fair
