I recently bought a Albatron KX400+pro. motherboard for an up-grade to my computer. I installed the new board along with a Athlon 1800 XP CPU, 256 DDR PC2100 menory, 350 Watt Power supply,GForce video card, and my existing drives. On boot I got drive activity but no display. Is it possible to test a motherboard to see if it's defective? I have a 3 year guaranty.

Testing of M/Bs is expensive because of the tools used.
Your testing by setting it up will be sufficient.
You are looking for video and post with nothing else hooked up but power and video, forcing power on with a screwdriver across the power on switch terminals. Maybe with speaker wired but not really needed. Ed Fair

Any advice I give is my best judgement based on my interpretation of the facts you supply. Help increase my knowledge by providing some feedback, good or bad, on any advice I have given.

You say you are using existing drives... I hope you are not trying to use an existing installation of Windows. Sometimes it can be made to work with a new motherboard but always causes problems later. You need to format and do a clean install. Help us to help you, please post back and tell us if this helped.

All things are possible except skiing through a revolving door.

Are you getting the audible "BEEP" during POST? If you're not, or if you're getting a series of beeps, then there may be a problem with the MoBo or other components.
Remove ALL PCI cards. Re-seat your video card, video connectors, and your system RAM. If you have a bootable floppy, leave floppy drive connected and remove hard drive cable from MoBo. Attempt to boot from floppy.
Listen for POST beeps, they may be your only clue here.

Thanks for the replies, I've done everything mentioned above with no boot, I contacted Albatron's tech support-they had me check a few things-everything was in order. They told me that it was most likely a defective board. I just wanted to make sure. You can check out the boards specs. below.

Thanks again.

To up-date the problem. I took my board-with CPU and memory installed-over to a local repair shop(the owner is a friend)they set it up with a diagnostic card installed and tested the board and found that the PNY PC-2100 DDR memory stick was bad. I contacted Tigerdirect.com- they are shipping me out another stick today. I'm getting credit for the returned stick+shipping. :)
