Bad Command Line Format 1

a friend of mine says he recieves the following message upon startup as the desktop is being brought back up after windows has loaded:

Bad command line format

he has to hit "ok" to continue


Anyone experienced this before or know what it could be? Ya' Gotta Love It!

Might need to restore Command.com

Place startup disk in drive A:
Type c: sys a:
Or it might be the other way around...not sure
if you get an error, then type a: sys c:
to copy system files back on HD.
 
Jeff,

Open Windows Explorer to the root of the c: drive, right-click on autoexec.bat ,choose rename. Name it autoexec.old.

Do the same with config.sys to config.old. Shutdown and restart.

Then post back with what lines were in those files to see if any are needed.
