are there any preferred tweaks for this
ie like the old settings in bti.cfg for arcserver etc

we have it on about 30 servers - all with mixed results
have a few that backup job sticks etc

all are using tsafs - no settings

The main thing that has helped my clients servers is adding the /CacheMemoryThreshold=10 switch to the SMSSTART.NCF file. This limits the amount of memory the module will use and seems to prevent hangs and abends.

There is a TID if you want to read about it.. TID 10091980

There are other tweaks in there but I have not had a chance to try them.

think you have wrong tid thats an edir one

i have that setting - i notice in the fragmented memory tid it recommends 1% though

never mind though cheers for input

Are you talking about this TID???? Memory Fragmentation Issue with NetWare 6.0/6.5 - TID10091980 (last modified 02SEP2004). Cause it tends to talk more about netware than edir.

About the 10% vs. 1%.... I missed the part about 1% setting being available in SP2.. With SP1, the lowest you could go was 10% unless you put a beta file in place. I hadn't realized that they implemented it in the SP2.

Back to the backup problems... that TSAFS setting has resolved tons of backupexec problems for me. However, some of my clients insist on using TSA600 because they say it is faster even though Novell says not to use it.

i'm testing the 1% just now

it's vague as it mentions the tsa.cfg - which does still have the 10% in it - so if put it on the line to force it
