i was wondering if anyone knows a solution here...

i want to have my users put all there information on a computer that has say 2 100GB hard drives on it and i want to beable to back up that computer and i also want to back up my servers .. i hear that the biggest tape back up is 16-GB

does anyone know of any solutions to this

You could use a tapelibrary! Using the appropiate backup software (even NTBackup), the backup will span the backup across multiple tapes. You could also do this with a single tape-drive but you would have to be present to change tapes every time.
The largest tapes (I know of) are 200 GB (SDLT's).

And get a good tape back software like Arcserve. That way you will also be able to backup open files (Like SQL Server db's).

200GB SDLT? Or do you mean 200MB? I've seen 320MB SDLT with compression. We're looking at a tape library with 15 slots and I'm hoping I can talk the boss into Arcserve to go with the library. But we'd be talking about $7500!!

LTO tapes go up to 400GB. But they are very expensive. We have two HP LTO drives that cost about $5k each. They have 200GB native and 400GB compressed. These drives are really quick. I currently scan for viruses, backup, and verify 75GB of data in 48 minutes with one of these devices.

We use Backup Exec, on all of our servers and V2I on some desktops.

We have similar needs and have moved away from tape drive systems. You might consider looking into very economical NAS devices. We selected XIMETA's NETDISK products.

They are basically networked attached, large hard drives that you can control access to...The cost/GB is very low and you can use very comprehensive mirroring software that will preserve machine states, etc.

I use 2 NAS units for my backup.

All 6 servers backup to a NAS (360Gb Dell PowerVault).

Later on that night I have another NAS at a different location synchronize with the first NAS.

Yous solution depends on your budget, how big your data and back up strategy/procedure. (Ex. How long your media[Hdd or Tape] to be kept before ovewriting again. Daily, weekly, yearly, infinite).

Tools:

1. USB/Firewire External IDE/SCSI Hdd.
2. A simple PC/server with multiple IDE/SCSI HDD.
3. External or internal tape drives (20/40 DAT, 40/80 or 110/220 Super DLT).
4. NAS/SAN - Enterprise Solution.

Software:
Arcserver, Veritas, powerquest etc.
