Hi there,

I got 2 w2k3 servers, 1 main server act as DC/tape server/backup server/etc, the other member server/application server, both servers with AS11.0 client agent.

I used to backup both servers to tape, now for daily backup, I would like to backup server1 data to server2's harddisk free space, & backup server2 data to server1's harddisk free space. Only for weekly backup the write to tape.

Wondering if this could be done or not?

Thanks in advance for help!

Use the Configuration menu, Device Configuration, and create File System Devices. To use a shared folder as a File System Device that you want to access through the network, specify the Universal Naming Convention (UNC) path of the shared folder, for example, \\SERVER1\fs_drive. (If the BrightStor server is running on Microsoft Windows XP or Windows 2003 platforms, you cannot use a mapped drive as a file system device.)

Actually with the latest versions you can use mapped drives to XP and 2003 as well I think.

Remember that backup speed will depend upon the reliability of your network infrastructure amongst other things.

Just in case - the FSD option was included on an update - some versions of Arcserve won't offer it 'out of the box'.

If you don't see FSD options, go to their website and get the latest update.
