Hi, one my file backup was spanned on two tapes that were in one group. It is OK. But, when I want to restore some files I start restore manager, restore by session (by tree also) but it shows the file is on tape 1 (in the manager) but the file is actually on tape 2. When I restore this file, brightstore automatically takes the the tape 1 then it skips on tape 2 (that is correct) and restores the file. But I won't remember this when I will restore this file for example after 2 weeks. I will take tape 1 to the magazine, because of record in the restore by session (by tree) and I think I get some error that the file is unreadable.
Is this true or not, will the BAB request tape 2 also??

It will always request tape 2.

To do a restore the session header has to be read. From their it will space out to the file location.

It sounds like the session containing the file spanned tapes. So it always needs to read the sequince # 1 tape first because that is where the session began. Then it will ask for the seq. #2 tape because that is where the file is.

It on the other hand this session began on the seq. #2 tape it would not need the seq. #1 tape.
