Backup slow

Windows 2003 w/ exchange 2003 and backup exec 9.1. On the normal backup file / information store.. are fine. But when backing up individual mailbox, it start with 60meg which is not too bad. The problem is it drop to 1 meg / min. This is a brand new server. Any suggestion is appreciated.

Try running the job without the exchange antivirus running. Mailbox backup are always slow. Try changing the Exchange Av software to disable scanning of attachments when opened.

I had already tried running it with the antivirus in Mapi mode only. I don't want to disable antivirus totally. Do you have any other suggestion? What do you meant "not scan attachment" how? I am currently using Norton Antivirus.

i've got the same problem. SBS 2003 and BE9.1

Yes, I was using an old verison of Norton, which was not compatiable with MS Server 2003.

Hi to All.

We had experiment that problem to here! With MS Premier Support they told us that Exchange 2003 was build to have fast backup for block level backups. Exchange 2003 is simply not desing for it.

The simplest solution is to not do block level backups!!!!

MS Exchange sucks for that Even if the Sales rep is saying that you can do Mailbox backups.
