How is it possible that sometimes there is more bytes written to tape than there is diskcapacity??

For example i Have a disk of 260Gb and on tape is written 300Gb??

This is due to compression. Sometimes files that are uncompressable will blowup in size instead of decreasing.

Could be a block size issue. What sort of format are the files in? If they are all small flat files, they can take up more room than you think.
