I have an NT 4.0 server that currently has twenty users attached to it.
Its sole purpose is for file storgage and retrieval.
At present we have no backup for this server should the server fail.
I was looking at buying a bog standard server that I can use to restore the data to each evening.
Has anyone got any recommendations for a half decent server??? As I said there are only twenty users using 20GB of disk space.
All printing is done via IP and drives are mapped using a basic login script.
Thanks.

Why don't you just buy a tape backup?

Sorry I already back up to tape. I want to purchase a machine so should the server fail I have a means of allowing the users to access their files?

Well, you have an NT4 machine and this is the Windows 2000 Server forum. If you want to build a second NT4 box, you need to be in the correct forum:
If you're wanting to build a 2000 Server box, well, you could put it on any PC that you have sitting around. If your NT4 box failed, you could restore the data to the 2000 box and have your users point to the new box. With 20 users, that's not such a huge task.

Without knowing the specifics about your network, however, we really can't recommend a solution. Do you have another NT4 box that's running as a BDC? Are your users logging into a domain? What else do you lose if your NT4 box fails?

Too many variables I'm afraid.
