Hi all,

Is there any way to have ARCserve automatically backup subdirectories below a backed up directory? I have users creating folders on the root of a public network share and every time they create a folder I have to select it as a part of the daily backup job. Running r11.1 (3104)

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

Ensure you select the whole drive or directory - so that the checkbox next to the drive/directory in your backup job is 'Full Green' else you backup job is static and will only backup the files/directories selected when you created or modified the backup job.

Thanks for the info. I do have one subdirectory deselected; guess this put the entire root folder in static mode. Will all other sub directories under root directories that are checked off (green) automatically backup upon creation?

Thanks again.

Yes they should do, only files and directories under half green selections are static.

Keep in mind that fully green selected directories underneath half green selected directories are dynamically themselves.
The basic rule is:
-all underneath half green selected box is static (this is called 'explicit packaging'
-all underneath full green selected is dynamic (this is called 'dynamic packaging')

regards
