Hi all,
I have recently purchased a new server and a new backup device (PowerVault 122T,2U,LTO2 200/400GB,). The new backup device was installed on the same server that was running the last scsi backup device.
When installing the backup device there is 2 sections to the drivers. One for the backup device and one for the robotics side of things (as it is an autoloader). This is were my first problem arose. The server didn't recognise that it is an autoloader and under 'medium changers' where it is meant to have the name of the device... it just had 'unkown medium changer'. So I just continued with the install using the unkown medium changer and putting the dell drivers to that, and sure enough, the back device can not change the tape automatically.
This is one problem, but the main problem is that the even with me manually loading the tape, the backup's will only get to 99% and then the time just keeps ticking but nothing else happens. I have checked the log and the only thing that looks out of place is:
****************************************************
Unable to initialize Remote Agent for Windows NT/2000 - performing standard backup
****************************************************
Could this be causing the backup to freeze and does anyone know how to fix the autoloader problem?
NB: I am using Server2k with Veritas Backup 8.6
thanks in advance
