Dear ;

I want to send database backup in Floopy disks. Let suppose I don't have CD Writer and E-mail service. Then how can send the database backup in floopy disks. One fellow asked this question from me.

I think there is no way to take backup in small peices but any idea will be helpful for him.

Regards,
Essa

Unless the SQL database is very small there is little hope of fitting a backup on floppy even if you utilize file groups. Probably the best option is to obtain a file splitter utility that will split and copy a single large file to multiple floppies. The user could create a backup on disk and then use the utility to copy the backup to floppies.

Check the following links for some downloadable utilities.

Search the Internet for even more links. There are several free, shareware and retail file splitter products available.

In my opinion, the user would be money and time ahead if he invested in a backup tape drive. Terry L. Broadbent - DBA

Use winzip and have it span the backup to multiple floppys. When you zip a database it almost always decreases the size by 80%.
