We had a minor problem today with our audix box. It locked up and had to be rebooted. Of course voice mail was out for the duration, but more important our main number was out as it was relying on an auto attendant on the audix box.

Specifics:

Trunk group for out main number has an incoming destination specified. That number is a hunt group extension. This hunt group has no members, but a coverage path containing only the audix access hung group.

I am thinking of changing the main number coverage path to specify the audix system followed by 'attd' to redirect to the attendant in the event the audix has another fit.

Does this sound like it will work? Is there an easy way to test something like this?

You could do what I do, put a call forward on the AUDIX hunt group and forward it to another extension while the AUDIX is off-air

You can only set the call forward from a station which has console permissions. Needless to say you can't status the hunt group however a list call-forwarding to see it has been set ot not.

You have to set the call forward for the hunt group extension number and not the hunt group number.

For example
feature code set a call forward #77
feature code remove a call forward *77
Hunt group extension number 1888
Temporary destination 2000

Dial #7718882000

Then to remove

Dial *771888

It won't let me forward a hunt group (using the extended call fwd access code from a phone with console perms). Plus this has the disadvantage of needing to be manualy activated.

I have attd following the audix hunt group, if VM is not availalble or all lines are busy it goes to the Operator.

do you have vecoring & an announcement card. You could have an auto attendant in the switch as a backup. Maybe not as functional, but it works.

If you have vectoring, without a card you can still use a vector for your contingency.

Simply route th4 incoming call to a VDn & write a vecor like this

1 wait-time 0 secs hearing ringback
2 messaging split 20 for extension XXXX (split is VM hunt & XXXX is auto attendant mailbox number
3 route to number 0 with cov y if unconditionally.
4 busy
5 stop

This will automatically send incoming calls to the attendant console if VM is down or all ports are in use. If the console is down as well they will get a busy.

It is better to use vectoring at all times if u have paid for it. Cuz voicemails systems are not as reliable as vectors. And u are usually dependant on a link too.

Da-vi'do

P.S. A message to all,if you want to get the best response to a question, please read FAQ222-2244 first. Also give the type & version of your voice mail & pbx system & preview your post to make sure it is complete & understandable. Be aware that if u don't answer a question, I usually will not continue to help u.

No vectors (kinda wish we did, they look like fun :)

I changed the coverage path to include 'attd' at the end. Don't know if it will work though, but nothing bad happened.
