Backup file location 1

Hi,

I have 8720 Servers using CM4. I backup to the usb attached Flash drives.

How do I access these drives from the shell, or can anyone tell me the path on the servers to where the backup tar.gz files are stored so that I can manually copy these files to another location on the network etc.

Why making life hard for yourself ? if you use the maintenance web interface , go to backup select the back up location there

please note you will need FTP running on the receiving server if you want to back up to the server automaticly

Hi,

I'm not allowed to use FTP in the office. It's the policy here, so I need another method, hence the need for the location.

CM4 should support SCP (Secure Copy), SFTP (Secure FTP) as well. Give those a shot.

I use "SCP" and setup the S-Series backup to place the files in /var/home/ftp/pub, then you can move the files from their. You need to use a valid username/password as well, anonymous doesn't work. SCP is enabled by default on the S-Series server, so it works.

Excellent, now got my backup files in this folder.

Can I be greedy and ask for advice on the best way to now get that file off the box onto my PC, without using FTP.

Sorted.

I used CuteFTP-Pro which has SSH2 and this connects and lets me drag and drop from the Linux box straight onto my network drives.
