I upgraded backup exec to 9 a month ago on my SQL Server. Ever since, my backups have failed due to service shutdown at 3:00:19am every night. Backup server service restarts at 3:04am and is always running when I have checked. Any ideas why this is happening? I have upgraded backup exec on my file server and exchange with no problems. Please Help, This is driving me Crazy!

Would check that you don't have a task scheduled to stop and restart the backup services daily.

-------------------------------

If it doesn't leak oil it must be empty!!

No scheduled tasks. It looks like the backup completes then at the end of the verify it hangs until 3am when the service shuts down. I am downloading build 4454 install from Veritas now. Maybe this will help

Well, I can't get build 4454 to install. After a 4 hour download, the wizard encounters an error everytime.
I have figured out that the backup is finishing and just hanging until the service shuts down. Could this be some setting I am missing?
At around 2:50am I have an alert to remove media from drive, then at 3am as I said before the server service shuts down and the job fails.
ANYONE WITH ANY NEW IDEAS, PLEASE HELP ME!!!

Susan929, I have the same problem and just found out what it is... Automatic Updates is scheduled to run at 3:00AM by default and it is rebooting the computer. Change the time that it installes and the problem is solved!

Or if that is the problem, turn it off and run it manually. Do you really want something/someone else to decide when your server should be rebooted?

As for the download of BUILD 4454, have you tried downloading (not installing) to a disk or your computer and THEN installing it from that file?
