Backup Exec won't run a restore

Hi All,

I have a really strange problem with BE 8.6 and windows 2000. When I try to run a restore, I make my selections and load the correct tape. Everything seems to be running fine in the job activity monitor, however the job will first say running, then loading media, running, loading media. This will continue for hours on end. If I try another tape from either an earlier or later date the same problem happens again. The restore job is always for the same location, however I did a test restore for a different set of files on the same tape and that didn't work either.

Any ideas?

Have you tried running an tape inventory and then restoring from it? At least that way you won't have to specify specific tapes - this would workaround a problem in your catalog.

Hi Stevensavage, it won't let me run a restore on anotehr server unless a catalog exists. The server that gives me the issue already has a catalog on there.

stop the BE services.

delete c:\program files\veritas\backup exec\nt\catalogs\betopcat.*

Start the services.

try your restore again.
