Have ArcServe 2000 but need to backup the Exchange Database or Mailbox in Brick Level Backups?

Any ideas?

You need to use the Exchange agent. However, the Arcserve 2000 Exchange agent will only support backup of Exchange server 2000 with (arcserve) sp4 build 337, it will not backup Exchange 2003. For this you would need to upgrade to at least Brightstor Arcserve 9.0.1 build 2020.

Hi

You may need to upgrade to the latest patch.

I'll be honest and tell you I don't know why your agent would tell you that it can't backup exchange 2000 because I have arcserve 2000 and its backing up my exchange 2000 without problems. (other than the initial figuring out what permissions to use)

Maybe you can try downloading the the 2000 agent from the site if its still available. Or the patch may solve the problem.

Hi,

Uninstall the Exchange agent.

Go to the below link and download SP3 for ARCserve 2000.

Extract the .caz file and you would get a .exe file.

Now extract this file again using winzip. it should extact into several folders.

Look for a folder called Exchange.dba.
Run the setup to install the Exchange agent. The build of this agent would be 414.

This agent is compatible with Exchange 2000 and can backup the mailboxes as well.
