Not sure if this a software or hardware issue.... After installing Powertools and Hotkeys everytime I hit the backspace key it sends my computer into standby mode. I've switched out the keyboard and checked for bios settings but nothing has fixed it....any ideas???? thanks in advance

Perfection is never making the same mistake twice....

I'm pretty sure that it is a software problem. Check your settings in Powertools and Hotkeys programs (I've never heard of either of them (do you mean Powertoys?)...lol)
If you can't find any settings that you suspect cause this (annoying) problem, you can always do a System Restore (Start||All Programs||Accessories||System Tools||System Restore) to the point before it started happening.

Take a look at what software came with your original keyboard. Check control panel and the system tray. Some keyboards have extra buttons for standby and such. I suspect you have some keyboard software installed that is getting confused.
