Hello All,

I opened a case with Legato on this issue, however, I thought that I would try to plug the forum for direction.
I am trying to backup a filesystem that is NFS exported from a NetAPP server. I am running NetWorker 6.1.2 on Solaris 2.8 non-NDMP. When I try to back up the file system, it is also backing up the .snapshot folder which contains 2 weeks worth of mirrored data. The file system
is mounted as /pinatubo/ccmt_databases and the subfolders are:

.profile, .snapshot, CDC_63, DBXray, DBadmin, LogMast63, etc...

Is there any way to exclude the .snapshot directory for the client, saveset /pinatubo/ccmt_databases via nwadmin?

Thanks,

mantab

Yes, I tried placing the .nsr file in the .snapshot folder, however, that didn't work because it's a mirror and a read-only volume. I then tried placing the .nsr file in the mounted directory one-level above the .snapshot folder as
+skip: .snapshot and that still didn't work. I am now testing it with the .nsr file at the /vol/vol1 level on the NetAPP filer to see if that will work. I'll let you know.

Thx,

Mike

The reason why a directive will not work simply is that there is no software running on the filer that is able to read and understand it. Remember, you did not install any NetWorker software

In this case you must use the opposite way and specify all your save sets explicitely.

Although there is no NW client software running on the filer, its filesystem is mounted as an NFS share on a Solaris client that DOES have NW client software installed. A global directive (defined on the Networker server) should do the trick.

Correct, i have misread that. The following directve should do the job:

<< /pinatubo/ccmt_databases >>
+skip: .snapshot

Thanks to all,

by placing the directive in /pinatubo/ccmt_databases.

.nsr file
+skip: .snapshot

That worked!!

Thanks for your help.
