Backing up a remote server - with restricted admin rights 1

My company has several internal web apps using MSSQL 2000 databases. I'm planning to migrate them to a remote hosting server so that they can be accessed by our staff via the Internet. Because we're going for the lowest-cost solution, I've signed up for a virtual server web host that provides a 25MB MSSQL database for $16 a month only. The database works great for us, and I can even use EM to access and modify the table properties.

The problem is with backups. The web hosting provider says they do weekly backups, and can give us one-time FTP access to the backup file should there be some failure. I don't want to rely on them, and want to do my own backups instead. But I can't seem to use Backup because it only saves to the local harddisk on the remote server (the server is not connected to my office network).

Questions:
1. Is there any way for me to do a backup of the remote database through EM and have the backup file saved on my local C: drive?

2. Is there any other more efficient method of doing regular backups of my remote database? Keep in mind I have very limited admin rights, so stuff like replication is likely out for me. (I can't host the sites on my own servers either, cos I don't even have a fixed IP address.)

Would appreciate any thoughts or suggestions. Thanks!

If you have limited admin rights, you probably don't have the rights you need to do backups.

Any solutions would be a waste until we find out whether you have the proper permissions.

With the permissions that you have, you probally can't do much. The best thing you can probally do is schedule DTS to do some sort of database copy from that server to a local SQL Server and backup from there.
