backing and restoring tape media in win2k

We have 2 servers. When I backup a tape using the built in backup tool from 1 server then, when I load the tape to another server I can't seem to view the media set on the other server.

How do I restore the data to another server using the other server's tape drive?

Need more info. Why would you do a restore on a different server?

I am testing a disaster recovery procedure wherein I assume the SERVER 1 is lost due to whatever reason. Therefore I need to restore the data in the tape to another server.

Wouldn't you rather have 2 dc's where if dc1 goes down, then users get needed info from dc2? This is how it's usually done. Use backups on both, so if dc1 goes down, dc2 keeps working, and do a restore on dc1.

actually yes we do have multiple DCs. but the backup i am pertaining are not backups related to active directory.

the backup I am pertaining to are the backups of my sql server database. what I do is I don't backup directly to tape from sql. I backup first to HDs and use the built in backup utility of win2k to transfer from hds to tape.

the problem now is how can i restore the tape backup of my sql data to another server following the steps that i have mentioned above. assuming the server 1 where the backup was done was let us say drastically was stolen . therefore i want to restore the tape to server 2.
