I have a T1 line coming into my router (Cisco 2600) and router connected to PIX 506 Firewall. Running a windows 2000
with Static IP on server and workstations(25)
Now the company has taken a Cable modem as back up for T1 line.
How do I configure the back up cable modem line(DHCP) so that it works when T1 is down.
Is there any write up on this
I dont know whether this is the forum to ask this...
where can i find more info
thanks
Sam

hi

In fact what you ask is not nothing! here is not only question of pix but more of router aspect and public ip adress.

to use the cable modem as backup this one should be able to support the T1 public ip address and the provider has to be the same.

if not it will be dificult to do the backup.

something that can help you in your work is the radware linkproof box. this box is adapted to your case.

may be add information to see better all the aspects of case:
- T1 give you a range or only one ip
- cable is the furbished by the same provider??
- cable give you the same range than T1
- are you able to do BGP4
- do you have one more ethernet interface on the router 2600 to plug the cable
