I have a concern here.
I have a brand new AWH65+ cordless headset and I am trying to connect it with an Avaya 1616 phone.
It works but it does off and on hook automatically tru the headset.

The guys at the headset helpdesk are sure that the headset is faulty, however it works perfectly with 54XX and 56XX sets.

The firmware level on the phone is the latest (according to 5.0.18 Admin tools)

Does anyone had this headset to work with the 1600 series phones?

Thanks!

Sorry I meant...It DOES NOT GO off and on hook automatically tru the headset.

Thanks

I think you need to have a special cable for the 1600 series to get this working but i am not sure.

The headset works fine. When I lift the phone and push the button the voice can be heard. With some config on the headset which does not match the guide config the headset manages to lift autmatically but I cannot on-hook then.

The special HIS instead of the HIC cable is only required for the corded headset models.

There is a special adaptor for the 16X (marked as 96 Series) phones, different to the 56X/46X series. You will need this.

HA! ok Thanks the thetaker!
So many little items in the box, I just did not notice the extension in the picture shown in the manual.

Embarassing but thanks a lot!

I think we are being short changed by Avaya anyway, in this link you'll see an obviously re-branded 1616 (as Avaya did) but that one has a nice bluetooth adaptor and more buttons, I wonder if avaya will utilise that in the future? :-)
