This may have come up and been sorted previously but a quick search didn't turn up anything.
I have just been creating a PDF file from Quark 6.5 using "Export to PDF". I do this many times a day and rarely have a problem. Occassionally however, I have found that no matter what I do the images in the PDF are of very low quality. In the past I have only been able to fix this by creating a completely new document and pasting the pages into it.
Today I found the reason and a solution.
When exporting the PDF click on "Options" and go to the "OPI" tab. You should see a checkbox to make OPI active. Beneath that you should see more checkboxes, one of which says "Low Resolution". Even if OPI is inactive and the Low resolution box is greyed out, if that box has a tick your images will be low res.
To turn it off, you may have to make OPI active first.
In my environment it doesn't matter if OPI is active or not.
This information is picked up from the print dialogue box, so you can make sure it's all right there if you like.
It just seemed odd that even when the Low res box is not modifiable it has an impact on the output.
Hope that prevents some head scratching for someone!
