I just made a stop motion annimation for my girlfriend and it is saved as an Avi file. I want to know, what is the best way to convert it to an animated gif?

In the export settings of Premiere there is an option to export as animated GIF. Have you tried that?

If you want just to convert - you need simple utility like VidGIF.
If you want a professional one - use Premiere.
