AVI movie file playback problem 1

My apologies if this isn't the right forum, but I haven't gotten a response when posting in other forums.

A movie file with the AVI entension plays upside down. Does anyone know of an AVI editing program that would have the capability to restore the movie file back to its original state. I have a feeling that the person who shared this file has purposely altered it. Other AVI files play just fine.

I believe there is a trojan horse (virus) that infects some avi and jpeg movie files by reversing every other two, or some such nonsense.

Do you have updated virus protection?

If it is a virus, this is the only AVI file out of dozens I've played since having the problem. So, I doubt that's the case, but yes my protection is up-to-date.

Excellent links! I was actually posting this for a friend who solved his problem by reinstalling the divx codec. It didn't make sense to me that other AVI files played OK. Oh well, at least it's fixed.
