Does anyone have any idea how to use BitTorrent with AVG Firewall?
I have tried allowing the program and ports. I even set up a service allowing all ports with all protocols. I must be missing something. As soon as I disable the firewall the application works no problem, yet when I reactivate the firewall then I can't use BitTorrent anymore.
And please don't assume that I am using BitTorrent for any illegal purpose.

When you originally installed your AVG product that includes a firewall, did you run the wizard that auto-sets up the features of the firewall?

If yes, when Bittorrent was opened the first time and attempts to communicate with the internet, you should have been alerted to that attempt by the AVG Firewall. Did you disallow the traffic at that point? If so, more support will be needed to resolve your issue, reply to this thread and let us all know.

Yes, and I got the alert when BitTorrent ran the first time and I allowed it. I also allowed the ports which it uses. None of these helped - only turning off the firewall solved the problem.
