AVAYA VOIP no sound

Hi, i configures an Avaya 9620L and took it home to test.

when i Plugged to phone to my router, i noticed there was no dial tone.
I called my house number and it rang, but when I answered the other phone, I noticed there was no voice going in or out.
after that, I plugged the IP phone before the router, and it works as it is supposed to.
so now the problem is that the user that needs the phone, does not have a modem and a router separated like me.
does anyone knows if this would be a firewall configuration issue, or is there a port I should open in the router.

Yeah, it's a firewall issue.

Need to open up the RTP ports. 5400-54500 but could be changed on the config.

what kind of router is it?

It's possible that the other user will have no issue - eg it's a problem with your router. SIP ALG or some crap turned on.

Hello JayNec when I tried the first time at work, I had the same problem, so I tested at home and realized that the only way to make it work was to plug it before the router.
the person that was supposed to fix the issue, suggested that I send the phone to the user and he will take care of the router.
he never got back to me and keeps avoiding me, so now I'm stuck with this.
so I was gonna suggest the user to plug it before the router, but in his case he can't as this is a modem/router.

I still need to connect and try what IPOLackey suggested RTP ports. 5400-54500

I will get another phone to do my tests at home and then see with the user

I will get back once I start my tests.
