Hi All

I have client who has an avaya ip500 and wants to open another branch office and have the ability to all each other. Vpn will be enabled between the two

The current office IPO has rls9.0 with essential edition, bri combi and 20 IP phones.

The new office will have ipo500 rls 9.1, bri combi and 15 IP handsets

No voicemail required at both

What licenses do I require to enable SCN and do I need voicemail pro?

Thanks guys

Prash

You'll need voice networking licenses for each path between sites.

you don't need VmPro (centralized) but you can't send messages from one user to another on the opposite system if you don't.
You can have each system with embedded.
approx. 110k bandwidth per call each way for g711 and I would not go anything less.

You can use VmPro on the main system with preferred license and the second system use centralized with only the essential license.

Best practice is to have both systems on the same release.

Thanks all for the replies.

My disti technical department is pushing me to have voicemails pro on one system and says is will not work without it.

So just confirm Guys this what I will Purchase

Site A
RL9.0 (Upgraded to 9.1)
Essential edition
1 x Voice Networking license 4Ch (4 Calls in and out)
BRi Combi (With 10 VCM Channels)

Site B
RL9.1
Essential edition
1 x Voice Networking license 4Ch (4 Calls in and out)
BRi Combi (With 10 VCM Channels)

Thanks

Prash

You risk voicemail issues if you don't get Preferred (and install VMPro).
Embedded is not supported, but it works until it doesn't....

Kind regards

SCN can run without VM
if you want VM then Avaya's documentation says you MUST use centralised VM (only the host site requires preferred edition).

if you try to cut corners & use embedded it will appear to work most of the time but there are a number of scenario's that will give incorrect results.

Avaya will reject any fault reports if you miss configure the systems

Yeah if you do not have voicemail turned on why would you need voicemail pro!

With the voice networking licences remember it is the outgoing calls that are licenced, so if you have a 4 channel licence set the SCN link to 8 channels, but put the outgoing to 4 channels, this means that if site A has made 4 outgoing calls to site B, they can still receive 4 from site B at the same time. If you set the line to 4 channels total then you are potentially wasting available channels.

It's not about the voicemails, that's just a silly little part of Preferred Edition.

If you don't have Preferred edition in an SCN you can't:

- Make any AA / IVR - (That excludes dial by name/number also).
- Play Announcements - What company leaves customers hanging in a queue unattended? (Don't tell me you record the greeting on MoH [smile]).
- Get Voicemail features - A North American would commit suicide.
- Say you sold them a complete system - Try slipping them an invoice for Preferred 6 months after install, just to get an AA working.

(Yes, we all know....Embedded will start up, it will function, and then out of the blue, it bites your butt.)

Kind regards

Gunnar
