We had a little power cut over the weekend - enough to knock out my PC, but not enough to down the servers or the phone system - both on UPS's ..

The Dect unit isn't on a UPS - so I assume was knocked out by the outage ... now it won't connect up ...

It has a connection to the network (the switch lights up and shows broadcast activity - tried 3 different points and 2 different CAT5 cables now)
No sign of requesting IP address from the DHCP server (Win2k3 - checked the log file and refreshed other clients successfully)
No sign of requesting a boot file from the TFTP server (hardly surprising given it hasn't got an IP Address!)

All I've got is a red flashing LED - 15 long 5 short .... :(
What Now Skipper?!

If it is an old R3 Dect (DeTeWe technology) the bin file is missing, you have to setup a tftp server or leave that bin file into the embedded vmail, if present.

Launch the Admin tool and see what it's expecting and where, then you can ensure it's there :)

I've only ever 'maintained' it from it's inbuilt webserver - but as it doesn't have an IP address I can't get to that ...

If you have the admin cd you can find the ADMM configurator there, it is a java app allows you to see/set the RBS IP-ADDR

On the Admin disk there is a tool to manage them via the MAC address, use that :)

Ok - run that - lists the config ok - but if I try to change it and submit the config it just comes back with Timer Expired error mesg in red in the status bar at the bottom :(

Seems I was a little inpatient - it submits the config ok - but doesn't make a jot of difference to the running of the unit - still isn't requesting a DHCP address or any files from the TFTP server - and it isn't connecting to the IPO either :(

Power it off for a while, I would static assign an address using the Admin tool though, get past that little hurdle if nothing else :)

It's off ...

I wonder if it'll work better if I spike it with a few thousand volts? ;)

When programming the IP and things using the ADM Config tool you need to also change it to "Use Local Config" if I remember rightly :)

I bet it will work :)
But do you see any tftp request?
When it times out then the basestation is rebooting.
Keep trying, there is a moment it will take it.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

I think the network interface must be buggered on it - it's configured with
Use local Configuration - yes
IP address - 192.168.0.69
Subnet - 255.255.255.0
TFTP Server Address - 192.168.0.21
TFTP File Name - ADMM_RFP_1_1_7.tftp (file doesn't exist - but should see that)
ADMM IP Address - 192.168.0.69

Cannot ping the unit and it's not requesting DHCP or TFTP file from either server ...
It's been turned off for ~20 minutes

I know it's not the network cable/switch as I use this port for config of other devices (on my desk!) and I can get/send the config using ADM Configurator (1.1.11) utilising the Mac address.

I've also opened up the unit to see if there is any reset jumpers - I couldn't see any.

You need to find out what pc has 192.168.0.21
That is your tftp fileserver which should have the ADMM_1_1_1_7.tftp file.
Manager can act as a tftp file server.

192.168.0.21 is a small server - running a few bits'n'bobs as well as manager and it's tftp server
I've been looking for a request to come through from the mac address and it isn't happening.
It is(or has been) processing other IP Phone units ... I've even stopped/restarted manager to see if that helps ...

When the basestation starts it will do a tftp request.

Here the led status:

23. The LED or LED's on the base stations should show their status. Check these. Power cycle the
base stations if necessary to restart them.
1. RED On
Wait for link up.
2. RED Flashing 0.5 Hz
Launching a DHCP request and waiting for a DHCP offer.
3. RED Flashing 2.5 Hz
Downloading the application image.
4. ORANGE On
Launching DHCP request and waiting for DHCP reply.
5. GREEN Flashing 0.5 Hz
IP Base Station initialising its internal components.
6. GREEN Flashing 1 Hz
IP Base Station trying to connect to ADMM.
7. GREEN Flashing 2 seconds On, 0.5 seconds Off
Attempting configuration and DECT synchronization.
8. GREEN On
IP Base Station is up and running.

Are you sure it does the tftp request?

you guys are superb ... thanks ...

despite thinking that it won't make a jot of difference I put ADMM_RFP_1_1_11.tftp on the server and updated the TFTP filename in ADM configurator - it's pulled the file down and appears to be working - ie solid green light on the front ...

weird that it didn't show up as file not found on TFTP server like the phones do sometimes ....

Thanks again guys ... faster response than the support co too ...

you might want to make sure all base stations are on that firmware version, ive seen these do funny things on a a mix-and-match situation, like base stations not syncing up.

HSM - you're mistaking me for someone with a telecoms budget ... we have just the 1 base station ... could do with 2 ... but no - just the one ...

;)
