Hi all,

I'm comparing Cisco to Avaya and would like to know if AVAYA offers this feature. Cisco offers the ability for users to change speed dial numbers and display names via a password protected web interface. They can also change numberous other settings like music on hold (mp3), ringers, follow me, etc and I think it's a really slick way of giving the power users the ability to change their own settings.

Does AVAYA have a comparable feature?

Thanks a bunch for your help.

Mike

not sure what version of CM you are planning on running, but i'm pretty sure (99%) that users cannot change the MOH. and the "follow me" feature is ripe for toll-fraud. Users can only change to preset ringers, they cannot add new ones. If you add a ringer for your phone, all others on the system will be able to use that same ringer.

Having the ability to change the names one (or 5 buttons) was not that big of a deal.

The speeddial thing was nice, but you can also do that on avaya sans the web interface.

good luck with your cisco install >:p

yes, the avaya does not support all that stuff, but think of this: do you need this features? I guess avaya does the telephone thing for a long time. so the features are based on experience and years of improvement. guess the cisco guys are not running upfront in this case.....

Thanks everybody for your replies. I guess I got everybody off on the wrong foot. To clarify my situation, I'm just wanting to find out if Avaya has features comparable to Cisco. I'm not actually planning on buying or installing a Cisco IPTel solution, just comparing features for my own knowledge. The reason I know of these features is because one of my fellow sys admin friends administers a fairly large Cisco IPTel system and when I'm at his work we often play around with the bells and whistles of the cisco system. Once, he showed me how his users can log into their IP phone via a password protected web based interface and change button programming including the labels, follow me, MOH (mp3), and a few other things. It was a really slick feature I thought and was wondering if AVAYA offers that. Often times I find in the AVAYA world they offer features but AVAYA has a hard time letting the people that buy and use their systems KNOW about the feature.

Well, thanks for your help.

Mike
