Is there any faster way to figure out how to decipher the alarms on a G3 other than looking up the alarm in the myirad of Avaya books?

This answer may seem strange to you, but I prefer the books over the Avaya website or cd's. Part of this is because I have worked with the books for close two 11 years and the other reason is I went to I/M classes and the main thing they teach is how to use the books. Alarm resolving procedures using the display errors and looking up the error codes in the book, to me is far easier. I like to turn straight to the maintenance object and look for the error code to see what the problems are. I would say that the books are 95% right on the money. The other 5% is problems that point to something else or you get the eculate the problem line.

What book exactly would be the correct one for the G3, having all the alarm codes, etc? I printed out the Administrator's Guide, but I don't think that's it. Also, how do I get the book?

You should have a book labeled Maintenance.

The most consistent error/alarm I see is error 513. No phone connected to a assigned extension.

If you can't find the book, go to avaya.com/support. You can pull down any documentation you need.
