Hi,

Our PABX is based in New Zealand but we have offices in the US and the UK. These users can receive local as we have SIP trunks with local US and UK numbers.

The problem is that when the users in the US and UK make calls they are coming from New Zealand and therefore they can't make local calls in the US or the UK without putting the country code 001 or 0064 in front of the number.

My question is is there anyway I can automatically put the country codes in front of the numbers when they call out? I only want to do this for some users.

Try this in user rights short code,define access codes like(your choice,YOU can use *and code) 9 and 8 for US and UK

code telephone number feature line group id
9N 0001N Dial 0
8N 0064N Dial 0

when user will dial 9 it will translate to 0001 and further digit will be client number.

Wouldn't it be better if they dial out using the US/UK trunk instead of calling international from NZ?

I assume you have to create URIs with different line groups for all countries.

Thanks very much for your help everyone.

Dialing out via the dial out using the US/UK trunk instead would be the best option but to be honest to 100% sure how to configure this as we have no Avaya kit in the UK and US offices.

Regarding using the short code I setup a short code for a user

Code = 9N
Feature = Dial
Telephone = 0044N
Line Group 0

Saved the config. But if I then call 91793596931 (this is a UK test number) then I get call rejected :-(

Not 100% sure what I am doing wrong.

Had to do a similar thing for a German client whose lines got delayed so I installed on UK SIP trunks. Programmed the system so anything they dialled as though they were in Germany was translated to UK international format. Was actually easier than I thought it was going to be.

No but 01793 596 931 does seem to be a valid UK number. 91793596931 would be 00441793596931 following the shortcode.

Indeed, you don't need to 0044 so you need to strip that off for UK calls on the UK line, don't forget to force en bloc dialling for SIP :)
