Hi,
we currently have around 70 6416D+ phones with plantronics H51 Supra Monaural headsets. Our agent are complaining about the volume coming out of the headsets and we have been advised to purchase amplifiers, however at around £80 a pop this would cost us quite a bit, does anynoe know if there is another option i.e. a different headset that would cure the problem, we have been advised not to increase the DB level on our definity as this will probably result in the none headset phone being distorted.

Thanks
Dave

If you're using the Plantroics M10 or M12 adapter, you should only need to set the slider control at position 4 and remove the batteries to configure the headset for compatibility of the 6400 type phones.

You should also rememebr that the volume is a function of the volume control on the phone set as well as the headset adapter, so make sure they're both turned up.

we are not currently using any adapter I was just wondering if there was anything I could do to increase the volume levels on the headsets without buying the M10 or M12 amplifier.

If you using are HIC cords to plug into the headset jack of the phone, and providing a Headset button, then you are able to control the volume with the phone's standard volume control.

we have the volume control set at max, however the agents are still complaining of low call volumes. It looks like we are going to have to buy the amplifiers to sort the problem.
Thanks anyway guys

Sadly, the headsets made by Plantronics cannot be made to be compatible with EVERY handset manufactured for every phone.

Some phone handsets are carbon based speakers and microphones, some are electret mics and common 8 ohm speakers.... Every phone manufacturer is a bit different.

It's why Plantronics made the M12 adapter. It will simulate the type of handset that your phone uses, and connect the signal to the headset matching the impedence necessary for good sound levels.

Yeah, at 80 quid they're pricy. But they work well, and are very reliable. Some models even come with recorder adapters, or music inputs. (So agents can listen to a cd or mp3 player through their headsets.)

Have you tried to unplug the phone and plug back in to reset the volume levels?? It's free and may work.

We're running 6416's and have no such problems; the only thing I can suggest is check what leads you're using for the headset-->base connection, the U10 leads (for CMV) have a clear end and don't provide much volume, however the HIC1 leads (smokey grey end) are designed for the 6416's and should give sufficient volume.

Cheers,
NJ

PS: Please let me know if my advice has been of any use.

If you want to buy a new headset rather than a amp then you should buy the binaural noise cancelling headset. I've had many call centre's complaining of poor volume using the supra monaurals. When switching the binaural noise cancelling they were very impressed with the increase in call clarity. The Supra monaurals are compatible with the definity however they are the lowest spec of headset in the supra range.

cyberjamos, we are using the HIC1 already and still having the volume problems.
colby007, i'll give are suppliers a call and see if we can get a binaural for testing.

cheers
