Avaya 1603 strange characters on the screen

Hi,

I ve an 1603 IP phone and i am getting some strange characters on the screen.

The phone does not respond to Hold+73737# command at all

How can i check if the phone is dead ?

Because the display is on and the sounds from the buttons are working fine

Do you see anything whilst the phone is booting up? or is it all strange characters even from boot up?

These characters are shown while it is booting and stay after the boot too

I would say then that it needs re-flashing with firmware, possibly the firmware on it is corrupted causing the strange characters, and that would be a factory job.

What letters? B,G,N,O,T ?? If so you will have a problem.
