Autosave in Word 2000

I have autosave setup on a computer running word 2000. I have it setup to save every 5 minutes. Every 5 minutes a window pops up saying cannot autosave due to the file is being used by another program. I only have it opened in word one time. It also says to try saving the file under another name. I changed the name and 5 minutes later it was giving me the same error. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get this feature working properly.

Does this happen with every document or with certain ones? Do the documents have any excel worksheets embedded as tables?

Yes this is the only document that this has happened on and no it does not contain excel tables.
