Automating BOTH Excel and Word in one VC++ project

Hi,
I am currently developing s/w that requires searching of BOTH excel and word files from the same app. I have successfully done the Word part (added the type library msword9.olb and so on...). But when I add the excel type library, hundreds of linking errors occur (even without adding a single line of code). How can I solve this problem ? Please help me --
