automatically kill explorer.exe

Does anybody know how to automatically kill explorer.exe from say a batch file? If I put "taskkill /im explorer.exe" in a batch file and run it, Windows ask me if I want to shutdown. I i manually kill explorer.exe from the process list, then the taskbar dissapears. I need to automate that. Any suggestions?

Well, you could try any of these

if you manually kill explorer.exe from the taskbars process list, the taskbar will be removed along with the desktop, but if you run taskkill /im explorer.exe /T it will not

I just did a "tskill explorer /A" and the taskbar was rewmoved, but windows restarted explorer.exe 2 seconds later. I need it not to restart.

You can kill Explorer.exe from a command line using the free utility Process.exe from Beyond Logic. The command is simply:

Process.exe -k explorer.exe
